I’m trying to get Instagram to learn about my love for art exhibits and so far it has shown me the Minions Exhibit and the Alphonse Mucha Exhibit which I will write about in the next post. The other art exhibits that IG is showing me are in faraway cities that require weekend trips so maybe I’ll end up going to them at some point. Anyway, this Minions Exhibit was exactly like I imagined and expected and it was adorable.
After coming back home from the palace, I did a simple search for the “trendy” neighborhoods in Seoul and this was one that popped up. I watched a few videos and then I had a plan for Sunday.
So, it was Lunar New Year and I couldn’t just spend it alone at home watching Netflix. Why not spend it alone at one of the largest ancient palaces in Seoul? Empty subway cars are one of my favorite things about staying in Seoul during a holiday. I was able to sit down! Of course the palace itself was packed since many other foreigners (and Koreans) had the same idea as me.
You know something is popular when you see all the instagram ads for it. Or all the tours ads on Facebook inviting you to join. Well, my curiosity was piqued. It peaked? What is this ‘Pink Muhly’ all over my social media apps??
So it was Chuseok six weeks ago and I am now coming around to writing about it. But let’s be real, my last post was a while ago. Good news is, I quit my Korean class (also sad news). I said I would self study but I haven’t yet. Now, I have too much free time and not enough money so I will try to write about some adventures.
Chuseok is the Korean equivalent of Thanksgiving, basically a harvest festival. They make and eat all this food but I only know about songpyeon…maybe I’ll explore that in another post.
The flights to Japan were “cheap” but I think during Chuseok it was the normal price. We decided to go and just walk around and eat and that was literally what we did. We also decided to just stay around Dotonburi because it was just two days and I didn’t want to pack too many things in this trip when we can just go back again.
